The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has officially kicked off the recruitment drive for 22,195 vacancies under CEN 09/2025.  With the application window closing in March 2026, serious aspirants are already hunting for the exact RRB Group D Syllabus 2026 to kickstart their preparation.

RRB Group D Exam Pattern 2026 (CBT)

The selection process relies heavily on the Computer Based Test (CBT).  The exam is designed to test your speed and accuracy. 

Exam Mode: Online (Computer Based Test) 

Duration: 90 Minutes (1 Hour 30 Minutes) 

Total Questions: 100 

Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

RRB Group D Syllabus 2026: Subject-Wise Breakdown

The syllabus is based on the 10th Standard (CBSE) level.  Below is the detailed topic list you need to cover. 

1. General Science (25 Marks) 
This is a high-scoring section if you stick to NCERT textbooks. 

Physics: Units & Measurements, Force and Laws of Motion, Work, Energy & Power, Gravitation, Sound, Light (Reflection/Refraction), Electricity, and Magnetism. 

Chemistry: Atomic Structure, Chemical Reactions, Periodic Classification of Elements, Acids, Bases & Salts, Metals & Non-Metals, Carbon & its Compounds. 

Life Sciences: Nutrition, Human Diseases, Transport System in Plants/Animals, Respiration, Reproduction, and Ecology. 

2. Mathematics (25 Marks) 
Focus on arithmetic and basic algebra.  Speed is key here. 

Number System: BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM & HCF. 

Arithmetic: Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Time & Work, Time & Distance, SI & CI, Profit & Loss. 

Advanced: Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern. 

3. General Intelligence & Reasoning (30 Marks) 
This section carries the highest weightage. 

Logic: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding-Decoding, Mathematical Operations. 

Analysis: Relationships (Blood Relations), Syllogism, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency. 

Visual/Non-Verbal: Jumbling, Classification, Directions, Statement-Arguments and Assumptions. 

4. General Awareness on Current Affairs (20 Marks) 
Current Affairs: Science & Technology, Sports, Honours & Awards, Personalities in News. 

Static GK: Economics, Politics (Indian Constitution), Culture, and Geography.


Preparation Strategy: How to Score 80+?

  • Target Reasoning First: Since it has 30 questions, aim for full marks here.  It is the easiest section to master. 
  • Science is the Game Changer: Many arts/commerce students ignore Science.  If you master 9th and 10th NCERT Science, you gain a massive advantage. 
  • Mock Tests: The 1/3rd negative marking is dangerous.  Attempt at least 20 mock tests to learn which questions to skip.
